September 3, 2025Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat Advances Towards e-Parliament Implementation
Dhaka, August 20, 2025 – The Bangladesh Parliament Secretariat has reaffirmed its commitment to establishing an effective, transparent, citizen-friendly, and technology-driven Parliament through the implementation of an “e-Parliament” system.
At a high-level meeting chaired by the Secretary of the Parliament Secretariat, it was highlighted that a feasibility study—supported by UNDP under the SIPS Project—is currently underway. The study not only covers IT assessment but also evaluates institutional readiness and human resource capacity.
The meeting noted that an inception workshop was held on 24 April 2025 at Hotel Intercontinental, Dhaka, with participation from government ministries, development partners, and representatives from seven wings of the Parliament Secretariat.
Key decisions from the meeting include completing the feasibility study by October 2025, finalizing the Development Project Proposal (DPP) by 15 November 2025, and ensuring the sustainability of all systems. Special emphasis was also placed on capacity building for Members of Parliament’s support staff.
The Chair expressed appreciation for UNDP’s cooperation and directed the Secretariat to take swift and effective measures for successful implementation of the e-Parliament initiative.
